Who We Are

The Irish Sailing Foundation (ISF) is a Not-For-Profit organisation that raises funds to support Irish Sailing’s High-Performance programmes.

These programmes are designed to develop and support talented Irish sailors, enabling them to compete on a more even footing on the world stage.

What We Do

Sport Ireland is the statutory authority tasked with the development of sport in Ireland. Sport Ireland provides funding annually to Irish Sailing’s High-Performance programmes. However, there remains a significant shortfall in funding, especially as compared to other successful sailing nations.

In 2024, the cost to run these programmes is €1.8m. Sport Ireland funding in 2024 will be approximately €1.2m.

The ISF relies on philanthropic and corporate donations to support our mission to bridge this gap. In addition, we want to expand the programmes to offer greater opportunities to a broader base of talented young Irish sailors.

Our Impact

Since its establishment in 2015, the ISF has had a substantial impact on the development of programmes and facilities for our athletes.

These have included capital projects such as the full funding of the Performance HQ in Dun Laoghaire as well as the purchase of support boats and kit.

Support from the ISF has facilitated increased time with world class coaches and experts such as meteorologists, nutritionists and data scientists.

The ISF has also provided bursaries to ensure that more of our talented sailors are empowered to realise their ambitions to represent Ireland on the world stage.
